Range Finder Coffee is a small, independent specialty coffee bar located in Water Stone Outdoors, an outdoor gear shop in Fayetteville, West Virginia. Water Stone has been serving this community for over 25 years: from the advent of climbing and rafting to the present day national eco-tourist destination. We are also the newest National Park! Fayetteville is situated on the rim of the New River Gorge, which boasts world class climbing, whitewater rafting, hiking, and mountain biking (to name a few). Like climbing, skating has received much more attention after it's debut in the Olympics. I've recently taken to skating (two months) and it fits perfectly in line with my aesthetic and vibe of the coffee shop. To sum it up, I play hip hop, sling coffee, and constantly talk about how amazing this area is! During the pandemic, we saw a boom in outdoor recreation and people moving here. Fayetteville was on the radar before, but its designation and pandemic fueled recreation/ relocation has brought opportunity for tremendous growth. We have always had skateparks in the area, but recently the skate community has been growing and this has caused towns and cities within a two hour radius to revamp old or build new skate parks. The culture is growing here. A local skate venue, Camp Royal, has been holding competitions and been a hub for the youth in this area to hone their skills on dirt, vert, scooter, bmx, etc. We have a lot of shredders and I'd love to be a place that can supply local peeps with local brands on their equipment. Range Finder can be the start of that. I felt skate decks are a good start. In a slightly selfish way, this means I can also rock Range Finder when I travel. I forgot how easy it was to throw a board and helmet in the car and just go. Sounds like a good way to network and create a bigger community. I also want to encourage the kids here to be creative with their sport. I want to hold custom board design competitions and the winner gets their design on a deck. Now I'm just spitballing here. I'm really excited for Range Finder to be here for the skate community like it is for the outdoor recreation and tourism community.
