Advanced Skateboard Heat Transfer Print + Protection System

Microsphere Tru Bond™ Technology is our advanced printing and protection process developed specifically for custom skateboard graphics.

The system combines a bonding base coat applied directly to the raw wood, our heat transfer printing process, and a water-based protective coating containing glass microspheres.

Together, these materials create a complete skateboard graphic system designed to bond the printed graphic to the prepared wood surface and protect it with a durable final coating.

Tru Bond Base Coat

Soaks Into the Raw Wood

Our Tru Bond base coat is applied directly to the raw skateboard wood before the graphic is transferred.

Rather than simply forming another layer on top of the skateboard, the liquid base coat soaks into the wood surface. This prepares the surface for the heat transfer process and creates the foundation for the graphic bond.

During heat transfer, the prepared wood surface, bonding material, heat and transfer ink work together to create the completed Tru Bond printing system.

Heat Transfer Printing

Bonds the Graphic

The printed heat transfer is positioned against the Tru Bond prepared skateboard surface.

Controlled heat and pressure transfer the graphic from the printed transfer material onto the prepared wood.

During this process, the heat transfer ink works with the Tru Bond base coat to form the finished connection between the graphic and the skateboard surface.

Microsphere Protective Coating

Adds the Final Protective Layer

After the heat transfer graphic has been completed, the entire printed surface receives our water-based protective coating.

The liquid resin contains glass microspheres suspended throughout the coating. These extremely small spherical particles become part of the protective surface as the coating cures.

Because of their spherical shape, we describe the microspheres as behaving somewhat like microscopic ball bearings within the coating system.

The coating is spray-applied over the completed graphic and allowed to cure as the final layer of the Microsphere Tru Bond™ process.

Finished Graphic

Printed. Bonded. Protected.

Once the protective coating has cured, the three major components of the Microsphere Tru Bond™ system work together as one complete skateboard printing process.

The Tru Bond base coat prepares and penetrates the raw wood surface, the heat transfer process applies the printed graphic, and the microsphere coating forms the final protective layer over the artwork.
