Our Microsphere Tru Bond™ Technology is what I have been working on for years. All the trial and error over the past 30 years all played a roll on how I developed this formula. It is an advanced printing and protection process developed specifically for custom skateboard graphics right here in my factory in Huntington Beach California.
The system combines a bonding base coat applied directly to the raw wood, our heat transfer printing process, and a water-based protective coating containing glass microspheres.
Together, these materials create a complete skateboard graphic system designed to bond the printed graphic to the prepared wood surface and protect it with a durable final coating.
Our Tru Bond base coat is applied directly to the raw skateboard wood before the graphic is transferred.
Rather than having us simply forming another layer on top of the skateboard, the liquid base coat we use soaks into the wood surface. This prepares the surface for the heat transfer prints we make and creates the foundation for the graphic bond.
When we apply the heat transfer with our heat transfer machine the ink and prepared wood surface melt together to create a Tru Bond that keeps the grapics in place.
Our printed heat transfers are pressed against the Tru Bond prepared skateboard surface.
Controlled heat and pressure transfer the graphic from the printed transfer material onto the prepared wood.
During this process, our heat transfer ink works with the Tru Bond base coat to form the finished connection between the graphic and the skateboard surface.
After we apply the heat transfer we use our trade secret sauce to make sure the entire graphic haas our own water-based protective coating that we have developed over the years.
The liquid resin contains glass microspheres suspended throughout the coating. These extremely small spherical particles become part of the protective surface as the coating cures.
Because of their spherical shape, we describe the microspheres as behaving somewhat like microscopic ball bearings within the coating system so they move around until the paint is dry.
The coating is spray-applied over the completed graphic and allowed to cure as the final layer of the Microsphere Tru Bond™ process.
Once our protective coating has cured, the three major components of the Microsphere Tru Bond™ system work together as one to protect your graphics at the highest level.
Our Tru Bond base coat prepares and penetrates the raw wood surface, the heat transfer process applies the printed graphic, and the microsphere coating forms the final protective layer over the artwork.
Microsphere Tru Bond™ Technology is designed as a complete process rather than a single coating or printing step.
Microsphere Tru Bond™ Technology is incorporated into qualifying custom printed skateboard products as part of our production process.
